Never Used SU700net... not working. overload LED

I had a extra SU700net that I have never used before.. it was still in the sealed box.

I opened it and connected it.... the OVERLOAD LED is lit and it is make a sustained high pitched noise.. with NOTHING plugged into it.

Battery LED looks OK. I tried different outlets, still same overload.

Suggestions?

If you have SU700net which was still in the sealed box. it seems to me that the UPS was stored for years. This means that battery was discharged - please double check.
Have you noticed if battery was connected or not when you open the box? Did you connect battery yourself? What's the serial number of the UPS?

Hi,

Generally that is indicative of an internal fault in the UPS. If the battery was not recognized, the unit might not even turn on or the replace battery light may flash briefly and the UPS would turn off and not respond anymore until it was brain deaded.

I would try the following procedure below and if it doesnt clear up the overload alarm, it will not be recoverable.

1. Brain dead the UPS

You need to power down all attached equipment and unplug it from the UPS. You then need to power down the UPS and unplug it from the utility power. Also, make sure that all communication cables are removed. Now, you want to hold down on the "off (o)" button until you hear an audible click (if not, proceed after 10 seconds anyway). Now, the internal circuitry of the UPS is reset.

2. Cold start the UPS

With the UPS still unplugged from the wall, hold down the test ( I ) button and wait until you hear two beeps from the UPS and then let go of the button. This would attempt to start the UPS off of its internal battery and sometimes is able to clear any internal faults present.

3. If the UPS cold starts, you can plug it into the wall.

4. If the same problem persists, the UPS must have an internal fault. As mentioned before, if the battery wasnt recognized or was disconnected, this particular model may flash briefly in the beginning but then would be unresponsive later.
