Hi .... (first post)
I need a UPS for shutting down:
Mac Mini Server (85 W-Max) -To auto shutdown when loosing grid
Qnap NAS (150 W-Max) -To auto shutdown when loosing grid
Switch=13W (unmanaged)
DSL=15?W (unmanaged)
For this to happen i need two communication ports, i guess I need the smalest UPS with two com. ports?.
Noise in normal operation mode must be as low as possible.
Auto restart (of UPS) is a must! (Need server to "get up" when we are on the other side of the planet) ๐
Any bying tips?
Thanks from Norway...

Thanks for the fast answer.
The Qnap NAS will register a "compatible UPS" and use it's own software to shut down when the UPS loses the grid. The Mac Mini Server will do the same. All I need is a UPS who will send some sort of compatible signal to my units (I dont need the APS software). Bying a hugely expensive UPS / UPS system means bying two smaler ones ... right?
Acording to Qnap APS Ups's are compatible. Some pictures under:

The only way to make the Mac Mini Server shutdown with our software would be to purchase something similar to a SMT750 and purchase an ap9630 or ap9631 network management card. It would connect to the network and software would be installed to shut it down gracefully. Since Qnap NAS doesn't have a standard operating system, our software cannot be installed on it. i did find a knowledge base doc that references a similar situation but may not fit. exactly. The reason you would need a network management card rather than using serial or USB is because we don't have a current software for MAC OS X that uses that interface(serial or usb). You could use the service built in to the MAC OS but I'm not sure you can communicate with 2 communication ports via the UPS support in MAC OS. Please let us know if you have questions.
