APC UPS XS1500.
When we have a blackout, and the power goes off, UPS kicks in, computer stays on, but the monitor goes off. The monitor is plugged in to the Master and not any of the surge outlets. When I perform a manual test either by pressing the pwoer button on the UPS PowerChute the monitor remains on, but if it is a brownout, blackout or a surge the monitor shuts off. Last time I was down 4:56 minutes, with the computer set to power down at the 5:00 mark, but without the monitor, I can not save to close programs and ythe PC wil lnot shutdown till I authorize Adobe to save and close. Any ideas on how to get the monitor to stay on when an unpredicted brownout/blackout occurs?

Well, I tried that. Did a plug pull test, and the monitor stayed on, but the PC died on the spot. After trying a few changes to what was plugged where I ealrned that the unit is either mislabled or miswired I now have the monitor and eHDD plugged in to a "surge" only outlet and when I do a plug yank the monitor stays on now as does the PC in the Master outlet.

i would most likely recommend switching this around a bit and having your computer connected to the master outlet and monitor to controlled by master outlet.
i'd see if it behaves differently. even so, i am not sure why this would happen but would be interested to see what it does if you switch it.
