I have purchased a UPS Model BE500Y-IN last week. After initial charging for one day, I tried it out -- the UPS transfers to battery without problems, but after about 4 min, it shuts down without any low battery warning. After this, the status LED flashes red and green alternately each second. Can anyone please tell me why this is happening?
Once utility power becomes available, the UPS automatically does the self test successfully. If the power goes off again, it can again function for 4-5 min. and then shuts down abruptly. Currently, I have just connected a DSL modem to the UPS outlet, and working with a laptop connected to the surge-protection only outlet.

Hello,
What is the Watt consumption of the DSL modem? Based on what you're describing, it may be less than 50W. A Back-UPS will not operate on battery with less than a 50W load, as the UPS will not sense it is powering anything, and power itself off.

Thanks a ton!!! You were right on the dot.
I connected my laptop as well to the battery backup outlet so that the load is over 50W, and now it's working fine -- I just tested it.
Thanks again and regards.
