Just bought a new RS1000G (FW:868.L3 -P.D USB FW:L3 -P).
When the power goes out, my iMac (10.8.4) can't read the battery % remaining unless I disconnect and reconnect the serial-USB cable at the serial end. Just unplug from back of UPS and plug back in again, and suddenly the "Energy Saver" menu item knows how much battery % is left.
I have the cable running through a powered hub, but it is also on the "backup" port of the UPS.
Is there a firmware update to fix this?

Have you tried this without the hub involved? Directly connect the data cable from the UPS to a computer USB port for testing and see if it does the same.

We unfortunately do not have firmware upgrades for this UPS. Are you sure you are using a serial to USB cable? This UPS uses a RJ45 "style" plug on the UPS side and a USB port on the other.

Yes, I am using the USB-"RJ45" cable that came with the unit.
