I have the APC HI800SQ square wave inverter.
Are square wave inverters fine for use with laptops ?

hi Rhino,
the HI800SQ outputs stepped approximation to a sine wave on battery mode. This output waveform is ideal for computers and computer-related equipment. So i do not worry about this kind of waveform to protect the laptops. If you are still concerned, then I recommend you to call in the laptop manufacturer to find if it can work off stepped approximation to a sine wave without an issue.
