My J10 has an audible alarm and a screen message "Inverter Overload". I had made no changes to what was plugged into the J10. I powered off the J10, unplugged all attached devices and rebooted. The self check and battery tested OK.
I added an amp and immediately got the same J10 message. I repeated the shutdown as previously noted and then tried to plug in a receiver. The J10 could not turn on the receiver.
Any idea of what is wrong?

Error: Rotel RLC-1080 fault condition inverter overload
Thank you.
I had the same problem with my rebranded APC Power Conditioner. Rotel RLC-1080. By reading this thread I determined my batteries were not showing up as needing replacement, however the batteries were 11yrs old, I disconnected the battery system and the power conditioner booted up with now errors.
Thanks again/

Hello,
How old is the battery in this UPS? Is it the original battery? Sometimes a bad battery can cause this (and I realize that you did a self test and it passed which could be misleading.) If you're not sure on the battery age question., please see if there is a serial number sticker on the front of the battery or the one from the UPS will do to start - I just need the first six characters of it, something like JB0709.
When did you add the amp to the J10 - was the UPS online or still on battery from it's self test? As far as I know, the message is only supposed to come up when the UPS is on battery mode, which would be true when you turn the UPS on and it goes through a self test.
If it is not an older battery, usually it is a UPS problem. You could also try a different piece of equipment and plugging that in just as a test, something like a clock radio, lamp, or similar is what comes to my mind.
Thanks!

The battery is old. The number is 5B0909T03883
Is it possible to test the J10 without the battery?
I don't know the answer to your question about the UPS being online or on
battery. I waited until the messages had run their course then plugged in
the amp.

Hello again - so the serial number indicates it is from early 2009, and is likely due for a replacement as you noted. You can try removing the battery and it will likely alarm at you that it is disconnected via the LCD. You'd want to turn the unit on, let it pass its self test, and then disconnect the battery and reconnect the piece of equipment to try. Refer to my note below regarding when the self test is complete and when the UPS is back online.
In looking at the front display @ http://www.apc.com/products/moreimages.cfm?partnum=J10&aPos=2 and http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z7V9H/ASTE-6Z7V9H_R0_EN.pdf, you'd want to wait until the "on battery" LED went off on the top left of the display to verify if it is online and has completed the UPS self test.
