The APC Back-UPS ES Device - 450VA, also has Network 40 written on the unit (Model# BN4001), has a "Service Port" which looks like a USB printer port. On the printer, of course. Can I use a the serial/USB cable that is typically used for printer to computer interface for Powerchute software with this model (BN4001)?

I found my answer on the web.
It appears there are numerous people like me who love the APC product who just used plugged in the Printer USB cable to the service port and installed the APC PowerChute to monitor the power supply and tell it what to do when power goes down.
I tried and it worked - And works with PowerChute like all of my previous APC product, except in the other product, it came with a USB cable.
I would APC should have a big message to say it is not compatible with Parachute as it doesn't make sense not work with Parachute; Especially this is sold in a general electronic store BestBuy.
Read Bill note regarding warranty above. But for product with a low price, it will cost you too much time and money to send it back if you need warranty work.

Hi,
You should not attach anything to the service port. The below information is from the User Guide for the BN4001.
Note: The Service port is intended for use during manufacturing. Do
not connect anything to this port. Do not alter the functionality of
the Back-UPS as this will void the warranty.

The link to user guide is no longer working. But I have the user manual.
I have use other APC product for years. But I just purchased the bn4001 and I still want to use the Parachute.
Is it possible to use the Parachute for this model BN4001 120 Vac?
Thanks
