Hi,
Am new to this software and just upgraded from the old PowerChute version so that I could run a script on power failure. I run an astronomical observatory whose roof needs the APC 1350 battery power to close in an emergency. I tested a js for the purpose that others with my astronomy software have created and it runs under the test conditions. So I guess I am good to go, but it looks like the new version of Powerchute SerialShutdown runs in the browser. So it is not running unless you login to the browser page and run it?
Am I missing something. Like to automate startup of the service.
Jerry Y

I suggest you follow my recommendation of removing power from the UPS. Than confirm the computer running PCSS does indeed begin the graceful shutdown as defined by you.
Let me know the results of this test. 👍

If the APC PCSS software has been installed correctly it will be running as a Service upon first start up.
So there’s nothing for you to do in that regard. You only use the web browser (IF) you want to view & interface with it and make changes.
You can easily confirm PCSS is running by removing power from the UPS. Simply watch the connected computer begins the graceful shutdown based on your user defined settings. 👍

Hi, thanks. I see it is running as an automatic Service. I also see it as a tray icon, but only if it is running in a browser, it appears?

Yes it worked! I tested it by pulling the plug of the APC unit and 180s later the script ran with the roof closing. We have to fine tune the script since there are several other things that we need to do to gracefully shut down the system but these are all fine points compared to shutting the roof and rain protection.
FYI, the software said I had 30 minutes of run time left and the Dell that runs the system never blinked. This APC unit may seem like overkill but the motor to close the roof is industrial strength and I think 1/2 hp.
Thanks for the help. Nice product... telling my friends in the astroworld.
