I have a Back-UPS 1500 model that uses PowerChute Serial Shutdown with a USB direct connection to PC.
Is there a way I can connect this UPS to a LAN home network to make config changes and monitor via WIFI without having to take a laptop up near it and attach the USB cable to login? For example, is there a USB to Ethernet port adapter that would do this?

Not exactly sure what you’re trying to achieve here?!? The intent of PCSS is to gracefully shutdown a computer system that is backed up by a UPS.
If all you want to do is see and monitor the UPS remotely than you can install APCUPSD / NUT software on a Raspberry Pi.
Going this route is low cost, low power, and provides remote access. Other alternatives is to simply allow remote access to a connected computer system and configure network sharing.
If you require WAN offsite access than any VPN can be installed, configured, and used for a more secure connection from the outside.
Dozens of options for you to choose from and simply requires sweat equity in terms of research, configuration, and deployment! ☝️

As said in original post, I want to be able to connect to PowerChute and the UPS without taking my laptop up to the UPS (which is in a very hard to reach area/dormer) and plugging in the USB cable.
Can I just convert the USB cable to a network port than connect to my switch? So 1) how do I physically get it connected to my home network, and 2) what are the steps to access PowerChute from another device on home WIFI network?
