Several weeks ago my ES725 began waking me at night with constant beeping. The power on LED is not flashing. This does not happen every night, but enough to be a nuisance. The only solution is to turn the unit off. Upon restart it powers up and runs fine. Powerchute does not report any problems and says the unit is "operating normally."
At night I always place my computer in Vista standby mode. This never has been a problem although I should point out that I reinstalled Vista several weeks ago, as well as Powerchute 2.1.1. The beeping did not start until after the reinstall. I suppose these events could be related (maybe USB settings?) but my system is 100% stable. Again, it doesn't happen every night.
The obvious problem I thought of was an old battery. My ES725 has been in service over 4 years. Therefore, I purchased and installed a new battery a few days ago. I assumed that would solve the problem. But last night the constant beeping happened again.
What am I missing? I've read through the forum and FAQ's but did not see anything resembling this problem, particularly since the LED is not flashing. There was one mention of using hibernate instead of standby in Vista. But I never had a problem before. Will disabling sounds or turning down sensitivity stop the problem, even in standby? Any other ideas or troubleshooting tips?
Thanks.

zepdad60,
I have a few general questions for you. Can you please tell us what are all of the equipment that's plugged into the UPS? (Surge and battery outlets). Is the UPS plugged into a power strip? Does the beeping ever happens when the computer is not on standby? It would be nice to what the software says, as the unit is in alert mode. The constant beeping normally means that the UPS has hit the low battery mark. You can also try to do a runtime calibration, or force the UPS on battery power so that it can do a complete discharged, then allow it to recharge for about 8-12 hours.
