My client has given us an HP ProLiant ML-350 G5 server to use, and we normally use APC ES 750's with our server installs. However, this one is not working. As soon as the power is pulled on the UPS, the computer turns off and won't turn on. It sounds like a relay in the UPS or PSU is constantly clicking.
The dual hot-swappable PSU's in this server are HP model DPS-800GB series HSTNS-PD05. Max output is 850W running on 120VAC but it only pulls 250W when running. Trying this with only one PSU hooked up does not make a difference.
We've tested this with an ES 750 and then with an XS 1300 (thought there wasn't enough power) but both fail to function correctly.
Does this sound like a problem with using approximated sine waves and these psu's? Can anyone confirm if this psu happens to be incompatible?
Thanks,
Brad
