Newbie alert, first post alert.
Because of short blackouts where I live here in the UK I bought a UPS ES 700 for my computer,
Installed it as per the instructions, including the Powerchute software and all reports OK. I'm running Windows 8.1. The PC is plugged into the master socket and 2 monitors and an external drive into the other three protected sockets. Estimated battery time shows as 31 minutes.
The software is set to stay on as long as possible shutting down when backup power is 8 minutes.
Just had my first power outage. The alarm starts bleeping then everything just goes off after around 5-10 seconds. No controlled shut down.
The PowerChute performance tab has recorded the incident but shows the time on battery as 'None' See below
Just to check I disconnected the computer and connected a table lamp instead and turned the power off. The alarm sounded and the lamp stayed on.
Any advice out there please?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
The runtime chart shows at 31 minutes there should be a 100 watt load. You wrote that there are 2 monitors, 1 PC and a hard drive being powered. What wattage do the monitors draw? You will find that info from the manufacture. You should also find out what the PC should be pulling during normal operation and what the hard drive pulls.
if the load is only 100 watts the UPS should not drop based on load. One thing that may cause the PC to power down would be mismatch with the UPS sinewave. Some PC do not like the Back-UPS sinewave but that issue would only cause the UPS to power down not the monitors and hard drive.

Hi,
It sounds like the unit is going into overload when transferring to battery based on the description. What is does PowerChute report the load is with all equipment connected?

Thanks,
However, I can't find the 'load' on the Powerchute (Personal Edition). Is this just on the business software?
