My recently purchased Back-UPS Pro 700 has ethernet ports for connecting a router (or in my case a UBEE cable modem). Right now my cable modem connects directly to my computer. When the power goes out the cable system goes out also. Therefore I don't see any reason to connect the modem to the Back-UPS. Am I correct?

Good answer, Mike. Just as I suspected. Too bad the APC instructions aren't as detailed as they could be.

Hi Desmond,
The Ethernet ports for the UPS is for Data-Line Surge Protection only, it does provide any power. You will still need to plug the power cord of your modem to a battery back-up outlet on the UPS. I hope this clarifies it.
