I've determined that my PC consumes about 255 watts while gaming. Is it harmful to use a UPS that has a max capacity of 210 watts? I was using my APC 350 CS for about 6 months before I became aware the max capacities of UPS's. Everything seemed to work fine.
Well, I went out and bought an APC 900 XS, and although it works great, it is loud. It's not louder than my computer, but when I go to sleep I turn off the PC and usually leave the UPS on. But, the 900 prevents me from sleeping so I turn it off.
My APC 350 makes noise, but it's inaudible unless my ear is right by it. So, is it safe to continue using it? If not, I'll get a replacement UPS at Fry's when I return the 900.
Can anyone give me suggestions for a quiet UPS? I was looking at Fry's site and noticed APC 750 has a completely different look from the XS and CS series. So, if that one is quiet I might pick it up. Thanks.

The primary danger in overloading a UPS is a load drop. If overloaded enough, and/or if overloaded when on battery, the UPS will just turn output power off, which will cause a crash. Other than that there is no real "danger" in regards to UPS or load damage, etc. The 750G UPS is quiter than the XS900 and should be much more capable of supporting your load.
