I have BN1500M2 UPC, Verizon wireless gateway (receives data wirelessly so no in cables, just 2 ethernet outputs with one attached to a switch)
Internet wireless in > Verizon gateway > switch > devices
Current ethernet cable connection:
Wireless router > switch > computer USB/RJ45 adapter
This works fine.
Now I want to run cable through gigabit in/out port on UPC to protect computer (or switch if that would work).
What is not working for me now:
Wireless router > in to switch > > RJ45 out of switch > UPC gigabit in port > UPC gigabit out port > computer USB/RJ45 adapter
Is it because of the USB/RJ45 adapter? Or am I connecting it wrong?
Thanks.

he Gigabit ports are designed to protect the against surges passing through the network l to a systems network adapter.
Example:
Wireless router > in to switch > > RJ45 out of switch > UPC gigabit in port > UPC gigabit out port > PC NIC
You would use a the USB to RJ50 cable to connect the PC to the data port for use with PowerChute or a third part application.

Are there known issues with the RJ45 In or Out port. The in port seems loose and internet keeps going out. When I bypass the UPC in out port internet is flawless.
