My desktop PC keeps shutting down on me. I have ran Norton and Malware to make sure there is no virus or anything present that could be causing this. It shuts off with no warning. The computer can sit idle and be fine, once we begin to use the internet or i tunes or some sort of program to make the computer think it will work for a while then boom, its off. Any suggestions? I was told this company apc could provide some sort of power problem relief, but i don't know.

i picKed a winna gives excellent advice. Your computer's power supply is a likely culprit. I would also make sure your computer has adequate cooling... make sure the vents and internals aren't blocked with dust and make sure the internal fans work.

i take it you dont own a UPS at all yet?
this could potentially be a problem with the power supply in your computer if the computer is just turning off out of nowhere. you first need to determine if this is a power problem or isolated to the computer.
have you had anything else on the same circuit in your location turn off? what type of computer is this (power supply specs, etc)?
if the power supply or any other computer component is faulty, a UPS wont help. a UPS will only help you if you are experiencing frequent power failures, brownouts, sags, etc but most likely if this were the case, other devices would be affected too such as a television, radio, and other electronic devices.
hope this helps get you started!
