I have a similar problem to kenshindono except that no lights go out on my unit. It just randomly makes clicking noises. I unplugged the three devices I had plugged in to it (a printer, a laptop, a modem) and moved the APC to a different room and plugged it in. It clicked for a while and then stopped. The next morning it started clicking again. No lights ever go off. I tried turning it off and on and pushing the circuit breaker reset button. Nothing makes it stop clicking. I have only had the unit a few months.
An older UPS backup unit is plugged into a different outlet on the same wall. It also started clicking randomly every once in a while but stopped after a few hours.
Any ideas?

Hi Baylie50,
This sounds like a sensitivity issue. If the power going into the UPS has any distortion it could be causing the UPS to click back and forth to battery. This switch to and from battery could be happening so fast that the UPS alarm never has time to go off.
I would suggest checking the user manual for the model UPS you have on how to change the sensitivity and change it from high to medium and see if that fixes the problem. If its still happening you may want to change the sensitivity to low.
