One of my APCs, CS 500, sporadically failed to supply power, even at the small request of a router. Now permanent failure. Removed the battery (which is OK), voltage at the battery terminals (with battery removed and unit connected to the mains) is 13.6 V, exactly as expected for a working unit. No visual warning signal from the panel (just standing green at online when connected and bip when disconnected from the mains) and no acoustic warning when connected to the mains.
Could the oscillator be broken? Or some minor parts that prevent the oscillator working? Any indication how to proceed, if repair can be done by myself, would be appreciated. There are no real experts here around, and the price of repair by a technician far away probably would more than the unit value.
Thanks

I apologize if I have shortened your name earlier.
With regards to what part(s) is needed to be replaced, further troubleshooting is necessary before we could point out which one is the culprit. Unfortunately, it is only the battery that is user replaceable for your particular UPS. If we have found out it is the UPS that has the problem and not the battery, we would RMA the UPS if it is within warranty. When we receive the faulty unit, that's one way we would found out which one among the internal components failed and or needed to be replaced.

Hi Chien,
Do you know how old is the UPS and the battery? Have you ever replace the battery on that UPS? If yes, did you replace it with an APC battery? We can help you determine the age of the UPS if you could provide us the model and first six characters of your serial number i.e. BB0456. If you cannot post it here in the forum you can use the PM function to send it to me.
When you disconnect the UPS from the power source while it is online, did the On Battery LED lit up? If you have a working UPS of the same model, you can swap their batteries and do the pull plug test to further check if the battery is the culprit. Unfortunately, we do not allow our customers to open our UPS for this voids the warranty and it could also cause an electrical shock. If we have determined that the battery is the culprit you can purchase a replacement battery. If it is the unit that has failed and your UPS is out of warranty you can trade that in and get a new one on a discounted price. If the UPS and Battery is within warranty we can replace them.

hello:
When I wrote that the battery is ok, it is ok.
I posted in the hope to have suggestions on which parts to replace, probably a resistor (R139?), to get the oscillator working again, unless it is just the oscillator that fails.
If you assume in name of the APC brand that such information has not to be provided, I wonder what is the usefulness of this forum.
thanks
