CBM's used UPS source

APC endorsed supplier of refurbished UPS' Costal Business Machine has UPSs as old as 1990s for sale.

Buyers of new APC UPSs are given a discount for trading in their old UPS. Are these traded in units possibly a source of CBMs salvage UPS?

Of course, they're "refurbishing" the units you send in and then selling them back out on to the market. They are selling units as old as 1990. Have you tried claiming the 3 yr warranty from CBM?

Reset eprom and all battery and line constants and calibrate unit to operate with APC’s specifications, setting battery replacement date in firmware if possible.

hmmm what's the line constants and what information about the PROG parameters do they have that APC won't tell me ?

Who knows, you'd have to ask CBM. Though I suspect if they're the only company APC has certified as a refurb company, neither is likely to share trade secrets. 😛

Can you tell us how your warranty works?

We don't refurbish any unit that is more than 8 years old. So the 1990 claim is silly. We have been a partner with APC since 1991 and are also the only company certified down to component level for the repair of these units. Yes our warranty is 1 year. the warranty is a 1 year parts, labor and shipping. If you have a warranty failure in the first 60 days we will send you a replacement right away. If it is after 60 days we will send you a box and a prepaid shipping label for you to return the product to us and we will either repair or replace the unit depending on the failure.

Presumably you have 'non-D' model SURT3000 & 5000 coming out the wazoo?

And I suppose SU/SUA 2200 and 3000 rackmounts as well?
