I just opened my new UPS 1500 and I sure hope it's not defective right out of the box. I properly hooked up the battery and plugged it in to test with a 600 watt load. I ran for an hour and the battery showed 100% full and the load showed 625W. Then I disconnected the load and the battery said 100% and the load said zero. Then I unplugged the unit from the wall and it did the usal beeping. Even with no load I was suprised to see the battery draining. It drained all the way down to 35%. I was not expecting that since there was absolutely nothing plugged into the unit. I also smelled a funny smell coming from the unit. Then I plugged the unit back in to get the batter charged back up to 100%. Well after over 12 hours the batter charge is still the same. So the battery is not charging. Please tell me what to do since this is a very heavy item and I no longer have the big box it came in. I have been a long term user of your products and this is the first problem I have had. Please advise this very dissapointed customer. If I don't hear back right away then I will assume that I got rippped off from Amazon and I will notify my credit card company to get an immediate refund. Thanks.

I suggest you open a service request with APC Technical Support.
You’ll need to provide the serial number, purchase receipt, and brief description of the problem.
If the unit has a LCD scroll to the logs and document what errors / faults have been captured.
If the system is connected to a computer running APC Power Chute software you’ll be able to export all the relevant event / data / UPS fault logs to relay to APC.
