Battery not lasting estimated time
Hi,
I have a Back-UPS ES 550 which is in front of a small load (an HP Microserver and a wireless router), and it does not seem to hold any charge.
I am running CentOS 7 with the apcupsd.service daemon on it, and this reports the battery having a runtime of 8.8 minutes. However when testing this, the runtime is a whole 12 seconds. Thinking this was a flat battery, I replaced it with a new one, but have exactly the same problem (and the old battery has been sent for recycling, so can't get that back).
I tried to look to see if there was any firmware update available, but the product page on the APC website for Australia has no firmware / documentation to download. (I can see it on other countries pages, but it won't let me download).
I also tried to use the apctest utility to "Perform battery calibration", but got a message that "I don't know how to run a battery calibration on your UPS or your UPS does not support battery calibration"
Some values from the apcaccess utility:
APC : 001,034,0837 DATE : 2016-05-04 14:18:00 +0800 VERSION : 3.14.12 (29 March 2014) redhat CABLE : USB Cable DRIVER : USB UPS Driver UPSMODE : Stand Alone MODEL : Back-UPS ES 550G STATUS : ONLINE LINEV : 250.0 Volts LOADPCT : 0.0 Percent BCHARGE : 100.0 Percent TIMELEFT : 8.8 Minutes MBATTCHG : 5 Percent MINTIMEL : 1 Minutes MAXTIME : 0 Seconds FIRMWARE : 870.O3 .I USB FW:O3
I don't if
A) I have had two dud batteries in a row (the original and the replacement)
B) I have a dud UPS box
C) There is a test / configuration that I need to perform.
