Hi,
I have this Battery Backup for 4+ years and apparently that I had thunderstorm last nite. I hear my beeping twice in every 10 or 15 seconds. Then I checked the indicators and found the Online shows load is empty and Battery icon shows empty and blinking. On other infomation on the panel that I am seeing shows: Online Load changes like 62, 71, 66, w; Load 7%; Out: 122 v; Out: 60.0 Hz; In: 122 v
and Event show 0 and one more thing I read "Estimated Ruintime in minutes: 0. Can anyone tell what can it be wrong or do I need a new Battery Backup?

Hello - your issue is almost identical to the one outlined here -> http://forums.apc.com/message/46971#46971 it is most likely time for a new battery. sometimes, the voltage can get so low that the UPS cannot see the battery and thinks its disconnected - that is what the visual LED indicator is telling you.
per APC BACK-UPS XS 1500VA LCD 120V RETAIL, the correct battery for your UPS is APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #109 (APCRBC109) so i'd suggest looking into a battery replacement.

Hi Angela,
Thank you for your reply. Ok, when I get the replacement battery cartridge, how complicated to replace it. Is there user guide or manual that I could look it up for my Battery Backup?

Hi frenchlady - it is relatively easy for this model. I think you need to turn this unit over and slide the battery door open.
here is the PDF manual: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z7VAU/ASTE-6Z7VAU_R0_EN.pdf refer to section 2 on page 1 and it shows some information on replacing the battery cartridge. once you get it and connect it, you can turn the UPS on and connect your equipment but let it charge up for about 24 hours and see if the condition goes away, if not, let me know and we'll go ahead and reset the unit. it should go away once the battery charges up.
