Hello,
The unit works fine, I have been reading what others have said about their ups's and found it a very good source of information if I have problems with mine. My question is with APC. Why can I not download the software and possible firmware updates from their site ?. I have no problem with Intel, Nvidia and others.

I have contacted APC but no responce. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

I do not know why APC could not download directly.

Hi,

When you power on a Back UPS ES 500 it will perform Self Test. When the UPS performing Self Test amber light will flash and then the solid green LED will lit. This is normal operation of the UPS.

what are you looking for exactly? APC's powerchute personal edition software that you'd use with your Back UPS and computer is free.

firmware updates for the UPS itself arent available because they are stored on a chip for each UPS. they arent upgradable or replaceable.

let me know what you are looking for and I should be able to point you in the right direction!

Hello, Yes powerchute personal edition.
I found it on APC's site but could not download it. I registered with APC and logged in.
I would need it for windows xp professional with service pack 2.

Duh, I need answers on why there may be errors on internet explore 7.o that cannot download parachute personal edition. Its gotten to the point where its academic.

I can download from anyone except apc.

This is a test , I went to tripp lite. Download their software NO PROBLEM.

Sir, its not where to go and what to look for, its the site.

I'll try to find it from a secondary site not primary.

sorry, it wasnt clear that the FTP link was the issue by what you described. without seeing whats going on, i am not sure whats causing the issue.

does it start downloading at all? any screen shots of any error messages or anything are welcomed.

What it is is more frustration.

The unit is working per the specifications I have been able to dowload.

Yes, download specifications. Pdf files. These work.

The represintative said he could not attach it in an email. Ok.

I suppose I should not complain, I works.

I would just like to have the software to monitor the system status.

If someone can get parachute personal edition and attach it as an email I would appreciate it.

Thank you, It worked. Wow the software. Really thank you.
The software could not detect the hardwae because of no cable.
Ok.
USB to Ethernet.
Humm. Ok.
Signal configuration suggestions would be helpful.

For some odd reasone I like the lug. the UPS and want it to survive.

I guess thats why I spent 3 hrs with an APC rep.

Im a poor technician living in Ohio.

Yet, knowledge.

Not enough apparently.

I really want to thank all involved in the download, that was nice and considerate.
