bx1300lcd vs bx1500lcd

FYI-

I was not sure if I should get the 1500LCD or the 1300LCD but I am glad I saved the cash and went with the 1300.

MY SYSTEM
HX520 watt coirsair psu - (this thing is sweet!! cant recommend it enough)
ATI Fire GL 3300 video
3 WD Hard drives ( two set up with raid 0 and one stand alone for a total of 1tb)
2 DVD burners
2 Apple 23" cinema displays
4gb ram
Intel Core Duo 1.8mhz

I decide to see how much wattage I can get my sytem to load the UPS:
With both monitors plugged into the battery, both dvd drives burning a disk at the same time, transfering a large about of data from HD1 to HD2 . Open photoshop and run some stupid complex filter on a huge image. With all this going my sytem is only pulling 180 WATTS! The 1300lcd is rated to 780 watts I would say I was covered. I would also say my system is way burlier than your average desktop. You would have to have some serous power rig to need the 1500. I guess if you are running multiple HDTV's.....

You might get a little extra battery time out of the 1500 but not much. But I guess you dont save that much money either.

I contacted Corsair about about modified sine wave compatability with thier power supplies. Corsair says their power supplies with Active PFC have no problem with modified sine wave UPS, perhaps a little buzzing when on battery. I think the whole true sine wave thing is overrated unless you plan to spend alot of time working off of the battery. I have had 2 power outages this week (abrupt off then back on) The BX1300lcd handled the outages very well.

My only concern about the 1300lcd and the 1500lcd is the lack of AVR trim...perhaps not a big deal.

Where did you obtain the Power Consumption on the UPS? Through the software or through the LCD Display?

I have an XS1300LCD on my PC right now power just my PC and my monitor and it reads about 125W with minimal services running.

So chances are, either the software or display is inaccurate and you're drawing a lot more than 180W.

Reading off of the LCD of the 1300lcd . Your reading sounds about right.... I will read about 120w load with one monitor and minimal stuff going on. 200w is about all I can get it to pull no matter how hard I try.
