Is there backup software to go with my APC 1500G for my iMac to shut down in case of a surge or outage?

APC no longer develops a Macintosh version of PowerChute Personal Edition.

Mac OS X has built in basic support for your APC UPS, and can take care of things like shutting the computer down when the battery in your APC UPS gets low.

If you need more than that, a Mac OS X version of apcupsd is available.
