Hi,
I have several APC UPS including a BackUPS ES 700. Recently this UPS started beeping constantly. I ordered a new battery, but now I am not so sure the problem is the battery. Here is some additional information:
- without ANY battery, if I connect the UPS to a power supply it gives a constant chirping noise which I cannot stop unless I disconnect the power supply
- connecting either the old (which I assumed was bad and has around 2.2V) battery and then connecting the UPS to a power supply, the same noise appears
- connecting the new battery, the same continuous chirping sound appears when the power supply is connected. Disconnecting the power supply at this point does not help as the UPS keeps a continuous noise on. It only stops the noise when I then disconnect the battery.
At this point I am not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.
Best regards,

Luis,
Is the UPS a BE700BB? Chirping indicates a disconnected battery. If the new battery is charged properly then that indicates the UPS is not recognizing the replacement and the UPS needs to be replaced itself. If the UPS is beeping once every second that indicates a low battery and it should be charged.

Unfortunately I do not have a suggestion as a Fix or solution to the actual problem.
However; have you tried downloading the Power Chute software so you can use the program to try and disable audible alarms? If you go into Power Chute personal edition (which you can download if you don't have it already) under Notification> disable the battery back up alarms.
You can try to disable them for a period of time of your choosing or at all times. If nothing else it will stop driving you crazy with the constant chirp/beeping noise.
