[Quirkworks]

My BackUps Pro about 8 years old is purring like a cat. Do i need a new battery or a new unit? What battery is for this model?

If so it would take a RBC123 which is a 24 VDC dual 7AH cartridge. Based only on the APC website this RBC is selling for $139.99 before taxes and shipping.

You can rebuild the pack using the same OEM (CSB) HR cells for less by simply reusing the mating plug and packing tape.

The RBC is rated to provide 2-5 years of service life based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions. The cells are designed to endure 260 full depletion cycles before showing degradation.

In a enterprise environment the system would be tested and validated on a monthly and yearly basis to insure full operational state.

A basic test entails a Static / Dynamic load test. Along with completing a battery calibration once a year or upon RBC replacement.

You’ll need to decide if the investment of dollars is worthwhile vs a hardware replacement that offers a full warranty, newer technology, and support.
