My SRT1000XLI sounds like a vacuumcleaner. I can't put the device at a place where the frontdesk anwers the phonecalls of a Hospital. in the NMC3 Web-Interface isnt a function to handle the speed of the fan. In the Menu of the SRT1000XLI isnt either a function that can handle the speed of the fan.
Normaly there is a test sequence at the boot, where the fan speeds up and switches are testet. But in this Device the fan speed is constant high.
Is there a solution to put the noise of this fan down to an acceptable dB ? atm 48dB wich is not acceptable

Thank you for all comments. My Authorized EMEA Reseller has contacted me for an RMA and will refund the matter. I will be advised what UPS better suits this case.

There are no user adjustments for the internal fan on any APC UPS. The options are to move the device to another location, replace the unit with a quieter one, to isolating it with noise dampening foam.
The SRT is a double conversation system as such is always inverting to produce a clean 120 / 240 AC.
This results in heat and this must be removed to insure reliability and longevity. Regardless, if the unit is out of warranty another option is to replace the internal fan with a quieter one with the same voltage, static pressure specification.
Keep in mind if you decide to replace the fan it’s only a two pin fan and not PWM. Which has 3-4 pins to control the speed and read the tach.
NOTE: If this hardware is still under warranty and is fairly old provide the UPS ID and firmware. As there were a few updates to the system to adjust the fan to the lower speed instead of high RPM.

Thank you Teken for your answer. The firmware of this Device is 'UPS 16.5 (ID1043)' and ist newly bought this month from an authorized Reseller EMEA. I will contact the Reseller and ask what options i do have exchanging it for a quiter one.

Assuming you don’t need a double conversion (Online) system. You may consider the SMT / SMX Series UPS.
As both units do not engage the fan unless a specific condition has been met so are quiet.
NOTE: I did not see your specific SRT UPS ID 1043 listed or firmware 16.5 on the APC Website. If it’s this new all relevant fan adjustments have or should have been implemented.
