I've had the Back-UPS XS 1500 for several years and it has worked flawlessly during power outages. Now that the battery is at least 5 years old and out of warranty, could it be causing frequent reboots of my Windows 7 PC? The self-test has always passed (just passed a few minutes ago).
Windows Event Log records the reboots as a Kernel-Power 41 Critical Error. The PC is still under warranty, and the system builder has replaced the power supply. Just got the PC back today, after the technician ran it through several days of stress tests and could find nothing wrong. Now that the PC is plugged back in to the Back-UPS, it's rebooting again (twice within a few hours).
Somehow this doesn't seem like a bad battery problem, but if that's the case I will buy a new one. I just need to know if this sounds like normal behavior for an old battery that consistently passes the sef-test.
Thanks for your help!
Cyndi

Hello Cyndi,
Do you recall if the UPS emits any beep or chirp whenever the computer reboots? It would also help if you could tell us if there are any LEDs or Icons being displayed in front of the UPS. I would also check if the USB cable is connected from your computer to the UPS, sometimes a faulty cable can do this kind of stuff.
