Back-UPS XS 1300G Battery turns on and off sporadically.
Hello,
I have a Back-UPS XS 1300G which I've had since Fall 2016. I have not used the device for the last two months during my move. I have recently connected the device and have turned it on with no devices attached just for testing this last week before I setup my servers.
Several times a day the unit switches to battery and the fans come on for a moment, and then switches back to line power. Previously, this device was used for my home theater system in another room, and I did hear the same thing happen, but much, much less often.
I have several other UPS units (different manufacturer) which do not do such or trigger any events. Which makes me feel that this is specific to this unit. One of my other UPS units is connected to a NUT UPS server and is logged into Grafana for wattage and uptime graphing, as well as a Nagios monitoring server too.
The manual states that a self-test is just pressing the power button for 6 seconds. However, when I do so, the unit just shuts down. The manual also states that to turn the power off, it's only 2 seconds, but that's not accurate. I need to hold it for 5-6 seconds.
To me, it sounds like that batteries are nearing EOL, but the fact that the power on/off procedure is different than what is in the manual confuses me. Batteries appear to be affordable, and it would make sense it's time to replace. However, I didn't want to just buy one and it turns out the unit continues to operate like this.
Any help would be appreciated, including testing procedures.
