I have an old Back-UPS Pro 1400 that has been very reliable. Every few years it beeps at me gently to tell me that the battery has died and that it's time to replace it. I only replace it with genuine APC batteries.
This evening, the UPS suddenly shut down and starting beeping loudly and flashing all of its lights. I turned it off, which quiesced it. After a few minutes, I tried turning it on again, and although it supplied power, it started flashing and beeping again. I turned it off again.
Is this the sign of a dead battery, or something more serious? I don't have a problem replacing the battery, but they cost $150 and can't be returned, so I want to be sure that replacing just the battery will fix it.

Unfortunately, flashing of all four LEDs simultaneously indicates the unit has suffered an internal failure. This would require replacement of the UPS. I would recommend contacting the Schneider-Electric sales division for advice in purchasing a replacement through our Trade-UPS program.
