Hello All,
I had received a notice that the battery needed replacement and I purchased an original APC part number.
Since then, my apcupsd status shows Battery Charged 100%, UPS Load 8%, Runtime Remaining 0.8 min.
I tried to discharge the battery with a lamp, and recharge it to see if it would fix the time left calculation, but it's still the same.
Is the UPS broken?!
thanks for your time,
regards,
-Gian

Hello,
When you discharged the UPS and let it charge back up, did you discharge it until it turned off? And at that time, was the data cable disconnected from the UPS (or the computer)?

Angela,
thanks for your support.
Yes, I let it run down to zero and data cable was disconnected.

Hi Gian - how long did the UPS actually run on battery for with the lamp? I assume it was longer than a minute, correct?
I don't know of much we can do besides try it again but then you're wasting discharges of your new battery. But, there is no way on these types of UPSs to reset the runtime like you can with other UPS types manually

well, yes, *much* longer.. in fact, after a few minutes, I went away and let it run out by itself.
Is there a way for the user to upgrade the firmware?

in case it is not firmware upgradeable, should I assume that it's broken and dismiss it?
How can I check the warranty? we have plenty of these Back-UPS 500 on three different locations...

Gian
For back ups CS try installing Powerchute Personal edition and refresh the ups through it by connecting it with PC, aside from updating the date of battery replacement. It may resolve the issue

Hello,
I just forgot to reply to your question of checking warranty status, here you go
Please follow this link, put in the serial number and it will give you the "standard" warranty status

I don't have a Windows PC available...
