I have a Dell XPS 420 Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8500 PC with a 425 W power supply
ScanSnap S510
19" LED Dell monitor
plus my telephone system, Palm Tungsten T3, etc.
I am debating between those two units. The SUA1000 is double the price - from what I can tell, the main difference is that the SUA1000 is a line-interactive UPS, Sine Wave, and the let-through is 0.3% IEEE - the joules protection seem to be about the same.
I am having trouble figuring out if those features merit spending double the money - can someone put those features into layman terms for me? What specific advantages do they give me over the BX1500LCD?
BTW, I live in South Florida (surges, etc., common). Thanks!

Hmmm...explain "input line requirements" - how do I figure that out?
The telephone system is a two-line Uniden system.
How do I judge if I need a true-sine wave?
Thanks for your help!

What are the input line requirements for the devices? When you say telephone system, is it just a standard residential telephone setup? I'm assuming it's not a VOIP or anything like that which may result in rebooting or downtime between transfers from online to on battery and vice-versa.
After weighing all that, if you don't need a UPS that outputs a true-sine wave while on battery, then you should just stick with the 1500LCD.

Speak with the manufacturer's of the power supplies for your equipment. They will tell you if it's ill-advised to run your equipment off of a step-approximated sine wave.
