Plugged in the RJ45 to the Data port of the UPS and the USB port of the computer. Powerchute will not install because it does not see the UPS? USB ports are working fine. I tried 2 different cords.

When you look at Device Manager within XP, does it show any type of APC USB UPS?

If it doesn't work at all, I would recommend having the UPS replaced.

If it's still within 30 days, yes return it to the store and get it swapped out. If outside of the 30day, contact support, who's going to have to ship you a cable before replacing the entire UPS.
