BR900 vs BR900-JP

This was originally posted on APC forums on 10/5/2010

What is the difference between a BR900 and a BR900-JP (Japan) as they come from the factory ? Can a BR900 be converted to a BR900-JP simply by changing the voltage sensitive setting ?

i am thinking that there is a firmware difference and a setting that tells the unit that the nominal voltage expected in japan is 100v so every setting is centered around that...

i've used a similar japanese unit here and it used its AVR trim all the time (since I input 120v to it).

thus, my answer to this question is no, it would require different firmware on the unit with settings based on 100v nominal input voltage, and of course, any modification will void your warranty, if you try to modify the hardware in some way.

hope that helps.
