My BR1500G has started beeping along with a flashing battery icon with an X through it. Reading other posts here, it seems to indicate a bad battery. I did a chat session with tech support yesterday and they asked me to do a brain-dead reset, which I did. I have not yet had the flashing X icon come back, but the unit is now constantly switching to battery for a couple seconds and then back to wall power, even when the wall power has not gone out. This morning it was switching to battery and back about every 10 minutes. It's still happening now, but less frequently. Sensitivity is set to medium, but I never saw this happen until after I did the brain-dead reset. Manually running a self-test passes, and it seems to run on battery fine when I unplug wall power. But the multiple battery alarms and switching power sources has me worried about the unit, and now I can't trust it anymore. I purchased the unit August 15, 2014 from Amazon. Is this covered under warranty?

While you'll want to call APC and confirm, these units have a three year warranty.
I've seen the BR1300G and BR1500G units both behave as though they had a bad battery after a large number of short power disruptions. Doing a "braindead" as support suggested does seem to provide a lasting fix (in fact, I've never seen it happen again, which begs some interesting questions about why).
If the unit is frequently switching to battery, it may be working normally and trying to tell you something about the quality of your power, even if you've never seen it do so before. I would call APC support, get the ball rolling and if they send you a replacement unit, see how it behaves.
