Hi all,
I have two BR1000Gs in the office and am having trouble connecting one of them to a server using the supplied USB-RJ45/50 cable. Both UPSes have the same model number and name (BR1000G, Back-UPS Pro 1000). However, the notches in the data port on the back of each UPS differ. The supplied cable only fits in one of the ports. As you can see from the pictures, the cutouts look different. Has anyone ever seen this before? Any ideas on how this might be remedied?

All of the modern units have a RJ50 Ethernet connection port. It appears one of the units has an LED status light at the top.
If the supplied RJ50 -> USB cable that came with the unit does not fit. I suggest you contact APC Technical Support to initiate a RMA for the unit if still under warranty.
Report back the results and final outcome.

They're both pretty old units, so I doubt they're under warranty still. I'm just trying to figure out why they have different connections for being the same model. It looks like the one that doesn't fit my 10-pin cord has 8 pins. So that one is an RJ-45 then? Does APC have RJ-45 to USB cords?

You can reach out to APC Technical Support to see if they can identify the correct serial cable and send it out to you.
You’ll need to send them the serial number, product SKU, and a photo of both units for clarity.
In the interim take a standard RJ45 Ethernet jack and confirm it fits inside without forcing it in.
If the RJ45 Ethernet cable does fit correctly vs the RJ50 that’s confirmation.
