I have an APC BP1400 UPS which has developed a fault.
The symptoms are as follows:-
1) The UPS is emitting a continuous high pitch tone which occurs whether is connected to the mains or not. (It does eventually stop making a noise)
2) There are no front panel LED indications.
3) There is no output from the UPS even when it's plugged into the mains.
The continuous high pitch tone suggests an overload condition despite there being no LED indication - it does the same without any load what so ever.
It's quite an old unit and I note that it has been discontinued, not really sure the last time the batteries were replaced (I inherited the unit) - I have come to the conclusion that it beyond just the replacement of the batteries.
Anyone have a comment or a view?
Many thanks,
Roger

how old is it exactly? can you provide the first several digits of the serial number? something like JS0123? it sounds to me like an internal fault on the unit to be honest with you..

ok, its from 1999 so i'd certainly recommend into replacing or even better, trading in the unit if you want. it really sounds like there is an internal fault, maybe from age or even accepting a surge. [check this out if you're interested|http://buy.apc.com/commerce/storefronts/tradeups/tradein.aspx?storefrontcode=apcetu&countrycode=us&t...] or you can pursue getting a replacement on your own if you need it.

Thanks for the feedback - I haven't had any power issues for a while now since the street where I live was completely rewired by the facility providor. I could probably survive without one.
Thanks & Regards,
Roger
