I've been using this unit for 2 years without problems. I was away for 1 week, and had turned the unit off (although it remained plugged into the AC power).
Upon return, when I switch the unit on, it gives 1 quick beep, the green power light flashes 16 times, and then power light turns off and a continuous beep is heard. No other lights or indicators are displayed. I opened the unit to make sure the battery was connected (though I don't see how it could have gotten unconnected in my absence).
While it is beeping, power seems to be supplied to connected equipment. A single press of the power switch stops the beep and the power to connected equipment.
I'm at a loss here - all seemed well a week ago before I left ...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I would like to know if the beep has a certain pattern that it follows, like does it beep every 4 seconds while the LED is off?
Can you please reseat the battery connection and perform a brain dead on the UPS.
To brain dead a Back-ups is to purge the charge in the brain of the UPS. To do this, follow the below procedure:
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the ""On"" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.

Thanks for the response ...
When I power on the unit, I get 1 quick beep, followed by the power light flashing 16 times. After that the power light goes out and a single constant beep is emitted. No lights or indicators are on during this beep. If I press the power button again, the beep stops.
I performed the brain dead as instructed, but the problem persists with no change at all 😞

You have mentioned on your first post that while the unit is beeping, it still provides power to the connected equipment. I would like to verify if these equipment are connected on the surge side or on the battery back up outlet?

Thanks JonPro,
After looking more closely, I see that the surge side always supplies power. The backup side supplies power ONLY during the 16 flashes of the power lite. After the power lite stops flashing and the continuous beep begins, the backup side no longer supplies power.
Could this just be a battery that needs to be replaced?
I wonder if I could test that by connecting a battery from another UPS unit to this unit, just to see if that cures the symptoms. I don't have another UPS that is the same model, but I'm thinking that it may not matter, as long as it is a battery with the same voltage.
What do you think?

The behavior of your UPS is very strange, can you turn off the UPS, remove the load connected and then unplug the UPS from the wall outlet. Press and hold the power button and as soon as you hear a long beep release the button and let me know what will happen.
With regards to your other question, yes it is possible to try a different battery from another UPS. There are times wherein different UPS model uses the same kind of battery. Can you also post here the S/N of your unit, something like BB0912XXXXXX?

When I remove load, unplug from wall, press and hold power button until the long beep and release, I get the same single continuous beep.
If I remove load, unplug from wall, press and hold power button (don't release), I get a 4 second beep, short pause, 4 second beep, short pause, etc.
The model is BE750G, SN 3B0929X10167.
The battery in the unit seems fully charged (12.3 volts). I put a 12v battery from another unit in this unit and it behaves exactly the same.
So I guess that means the unit is faulty. Looking back at my records, I see this unit was purchased in September 2009, so it is actually 3 years old. This is about the time I'd expect to replace the battery ... not the unit itself.
I'm guessing that any warranty is expired, right? Such is life I suppose. Let me know if you think of anything else I can do/try.
Thanks for your help.

If you are hearing 4 beeps every 30 seconds when you unplugged the unit from the wall and also when you pressed and hold the power button, it indicates that your UPS is running on battery. From the additional steps that you have done, the UPS is at fault. Our BackUPS do have a 3 year warranty from the date it was purchased.
I recommend replacing your UPS.

Of course, my unit is 3 years and 4 months old ... just lucky, I guess 🙂
Thanks for all your help!
