BE650R-CN - can this run a self test?

Hi,

I have a BE650R-CN model APC ups attached to my systems. I came home the other night and everything was turned off that was connected.. ie pc and router. when I tried to reconnect with the wall outlet. (trying to reboot it as it were). The ups emitting a long constant ringing. Not a beeping with intervals. I tested the ups by just plugging into a different wall outlet and a laptop running with the power connected. After being out for a couple of hours I came home and the laptop had powered down and the green light on the UPS was out. Power had drained from the laptop battery. It seems strange that it would drain even if the battery in the ups was bad.

Here is the current status output with nothing plugged into the ups.

I don't want to replace the battery if it's really a problem with the UPS itself. Besides it's almost cheaper to just buy a new ups instead of replacing this battery.

comments would be appreciated

Jeff.

This unit performs a Self test at start up and every 14 days automatically. If the unit fails the Self test, it will emit a constant tone with Power on and Replace Battery LEDs flashing alternatively.

Is the UPS powering on fine with normal load attached? or Is the UPS still making a constant beep with load attached after you power on it? Could you please let us know the light indication of the UPS when it is making the constant beep?

If it powers on fine with load attached, then I recommend you to stimulate a Power failure by unplugging it from the wall and check if it runs the equipment on battery as expected.

These information will help us to discover what is going on with the unit.
