BE600M1 Continuous Tone, No LEDs
This morning I printed a document on a laser printer which was NOT plugged into the UPS in question, but presumably on the same circuit (it is in the same room) and immediately lost power on all devices connected to the UPS (BE600M1) which started emitting a high pitched tone. The UPS and printer (and other devices) had lived harmoniously for years up to this point.
I silenced the alarm by pressing the power button and removed all devices from the UPS, however, now when it is plugged in and and turned on (even with no load) the LED will flash rapidly for a few seconds, then go out and the continuous tone will resume. I have tried other outlets/circuits in the house and tried a full logic reset as detailed here: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158947/
Any advice as to the cause and solution would be appreciated.

The same thing just happened to me. I bought 2 BE600M1s in December 2020. Recently, one of them died and started emitting that tone. I bought a new battery and the same thing happens.

You can try the brain dead procedure to see if this problems clears. If not the unit will need to be replaced.
Brain Dead: Remove AC Mains from the unit. Disconnect the battery, than press and hold the power button.
The UPS may beep & click to confirm the brain dead procedure has been completed. Keep in mind there may be no beep & click sound at all.
Reconnect the battery, apply AC Mains, turn the unit on.
What happens? 🤔
NOTE: If you have the unit connected to a computer and running APC Power Chute software. Please review the logs for any possible error codes / active faults and report your finding here.
It goes without saying if your unit is still under warranty it makes sense to contact APC Technical Support to review and submit a RMA.
Let us know what you find out from the Power Chute logs as it relates to active faults / error codes! ☝️

I disconnected the unit, disconnected the battery, and pressed and held the button. I got one beep immediately. I held the button for at least 20 seconds, but nothing else happened. I reconnected everything and saw the same behavior. I repeated and got the same behavior again.

If the unit is connected to APC Power Chute software what do the logs show as the active / past faults? What does the software indicate the battery voltage is? If you perform a self test what are the results?

Understood, but need to know the information requested up above. Install APC Power Chute software and connect the UPS to that computer system.
Relay what the software says in the logs as to the active faults / errors. Please relay what the software indicates the current battery health is from percentage of charge, battery voltage, input / output line voltage from the wall and output.
You can just take a screen capture too if you like and upload it to the forum! 👍
