I have two APC BVX900LI-MS that seems to shutdown my server every two weeks at roughly the same time. I have read somewhere that this may be due to the self-test that APC products conduct on themselves bi-weekly, but since this is considered a low-end model there doesnt seem to be a configuration to disable it.
I don't even see this model performs a self-test function in the manuals, but since the power cutoff is quite consistent, is this the case?

Lower end units perform a self test every 14 days upon first power up. You can remove AC Mains and disconnect the battery, press and hold the power button until you hear a click / beep.
You may not hear anything as well. ☝️
This process is called the Brain Dead Procedure . . .
Mark down the date and time of this procedure. If you see the same behaviour 14 days later you’re on to something. Keep in mind if you initiate a self test on the unit right now and it shuts down.
This indicates a bad cartridge that needs to be replaced. The battery is rated for 3-5 years of service life based on usage and environmental temperature.
NOTE: If the unit is connected to APC Power Chute software insure there are no scheduled shutdowns in place. If there is an option to change when the self test is started (change it) to see if the problem follows the new self test days. Also note if the battery is very low and power chute is connected to a computer it will commence a graceful shutdown of the system.
If you’re using any third party software like NUT or pfSense. Insure you check there are no rules in place to command the UPS to turn off. If Power Chute Software is in use review the logs to see what the system captured as to the past faults.
Report back what you observe and see! 👍
