BE500U no light

This was originally posted on APC forums on 11/27/2011

This unit used to work fine, but last week it became dead, no light to power on/off, no output voltage at battery outlets, but surge protection outlets OK. Does it totally dead, or would some one please tell me the procedure to check it up?
Thanks.

Based from your description, it appears that you are having issues with the battery. There are three things that would commonly caused this and those are:

- Battery terminals are not properly connected
- Battery voltage is low
- Battery is too old

Let us start by making sure the terminals are properly seated and are not corroded. If you have a voltmeter, we could use that to measure if there's juice/sufficient voltage left on the UPS and also check if you have replaced the battery on this UPS before. If you have a spare battery that is compatible with this unit, we could swap them out.
