I have always used this UPS with the controlled outlet feature enabled and it has worked without issue for several years.
Recently, power to the controlled outlets is no longer truned off when the computer (on master outlet) is shut down or put to sleep.
What I have tried:
1. recallibrate the threshold with PC powered up, disconnected, powered off, and in suspend.
2. 'reset' the UPS by disconnecting mains, removing battery, leaving it for a while, then powering up on battery only. Then connecting mains.
Also, since this issue started a couple of days ago, I have noticed the PC has powered up in the middle of the night (from a power off state NOT sleep). With this particular PC, this can happen if you disconnect & reconnect mains with or without UPS). This suggests (to me) that the UPS may have momentarily cut power to the master outlet.
The current battery (9Ah) is about 6 months old.
What might cause the controlled outlets to stop powering down and what might I try to fix it?
Also, if it is a fault I cannot fix, what is the recommended replacement? It seems current APC BACK UPS line up do not offer the controlled outlet feature.
Many thanks.

hi @Darcey
Thank you for reaching out to the SE Community, my name is Jon and I will assist you with this query.
Apologies for the late revert on this post, based on your description one possible cause is the failure with the sensor/switching mechanism of the master outlets.
Will you be able to share the model and/or the country where you're from?

@JonPro Thank you for responding to my post.
The unit is a BE700G-UK and I am in England.
The UPS was purchased 2010! It has performed flawlessly other than the controlled outlets stopped turning off with the master. So no complaints! However I really like that feature and it seems it's no longer present on any APC UPS these days.
If I can, I'd like to try and repair it. It will help me save electricity and that will be very welcome given the UK's extortionate energy prices!
Many thanks.

I know this is an old unit but I'd be very grateful for any pointers.
BTW if Schneider/APC offered a similar unit nowadays, I would buy it without hesitation. Considering the current energy crisis and prevailing climate debate, the current UPS offerings seem to have missed a trick by dropping the controlled outlet feature.
