I've got a HP server connected to a APC Back-UPS CS650
It isn't a very high powered server, and the UPS is reporting that it's only at 21% of cpacity. Battery is showing as 100% charged.
When power is cut to the UPS, the server switches straight off (although the UPS front panel shows it has gone to battery and it beeps).
Does this suggest the UPS is faulty (it is brand new)?

Also, if I pull the power to the UPS so it switches to battery, anything connected to it wont manually switch on.

Hello John,
It could be with the SineWave that the UPS produce
when it is On Battery. The Back-UPS family produces a step approximated
sinewave when it is on battery. Some load and or power supply does not
accept this kind of waveform. There are cases as well when the power
supply on the UPS is power factor corrected. See the kbase below:
