I would like to update the FW (V: 04.6 and ID: 1015) and also have local network access to the UPS via SSH or another method (during the warranty I had access to the APC.com monitoring site via ethernet), the idea is that the UPS will let me know when there is a power outage, etc.
I have been looking at the APC.com and Schneider-electric web site and it is really confusing how to do it, if at all can be done, in the back of the UPS there are 3 data ports, Ethernet, Serial (looks like ethernet) and USB 2.0 port, I would assume I should be able to connect to the USP through one of those.
Any guidance will be appreciated, thank you

If your Smart Connect subscription is still active you would simply use their dashboard to initiate a firmware upgrade while the unit is connected to the green Smart Connect RJ45 Ethernet port.
Assuming this isn’t available anymore the other two options depends upon your specific model (production year) and firmware installed and supported features.
If you have a NMC installed in the smart slot this is an option over the LAN but is NOT a recommended method. The other is using the USB slot in the NMC to load the same directly.
The recommended way (method) is to use the supplied (proprietary) serial cable that came with the hardware.
The black port is a RJ50 Serial port for loading firmware and connecting to third party software. The square USB serial port is intended to connect to APC Power Chute Software / 3rd party software to allow graceful shutdown of connected servers.
If your unit supports loading firmware using this specific USB port this would be an option too.
All of the above is covered by the APC FAQ as it relates to loading firmware to the main UPS unit.
If this unit is under APC Warranty engage APC Technical Support to assist you over the phone (live) to complete this critical task! ☝️
If this hardware is (NOT) in warranty you have a better than 50% chance of bricking the hardware while performing the firmware upgrade process! 🤦♂️

Thank you, I gave up, too complicated of a process, it's weird that in 2024 where we upgrade FW to all sort of devices daily, it's so hard with the APC UPSs. They have to revamp their products and make it consumer friendly.

Just to be clear you no longer have a Smart Connect plan? If you did just use that method to upgrade the main unit.
