Hello everyone! sorry for my bad English!
APC RS500 my dear, after 5 years without problems, has, presumably, the battery is failed.
After a blackout without any problems on July 1, I'm back from holiday and the flashing red light to indicate low battery.
Since I noticed the plastic slightly burnt, I opened it, the damage is in correspondence with two diodes.
I have read this page ( http://www.heime.org/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=17) regarding the problem to the capacitor C7, but, in my model, the capacitor is larger in size and is intact.
The test battery from APC gives an error, the red light flashes, the battery voltage is 12.3v, the voltage on
Thank you.

Good day Massimo,
I hope all is well on your end.
Can you provide more information about the problem? Are you seeing a solid replace battery indicator on your UPS or is it a flashing replace battery LED? If you look underneath your UPS or at the back, please provide the model number of your unit.

Sorry, i hope to write my problem, but insn't possible from my work PC today.
My APC RS500 after 5 years without problems, probably have a battery problem.
Right after a blackout without any problems on July 1, I went on holiday, return to holiday the red light flashing indicates the battery is depleted.
Since I noticed the plastic slightly burnt, I opened it, the damage is in correspondence with two diodes.
I have read [this page|http://www.heime.org/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=17] regarding the problem to the capacitor C7, but, in my model, the capacitor is larger in size and is intact.
The test battery from APC gives an error, the red light flashes, the battery voltage is 12.3v charging, the voltage on the connectors of the UPS is 13.5V.
is the battery that is gone, so replacing it is ok, or is it better to do other controls on the UPS?
My UPS is BR500I (imput 230v) serial number BB0539008643
Thank you.

A flashing RBL means that the UPS is experiencing a disconnected battery.
Typically, I would ask our customer to try a different battery if they have a spare. But most of the time, whenever this fault comes up it is the UPS that we do replace.
