The things that can go bad are electrolytic Caps, yes end of life is also a major factor.. tracing them is a bit of headache

Hi Avinash,
Can you please provide the model and serial number of this unit? It is located on a white sticker on the back or bottom of the UPS. Also, was the new battery you installed in the unit a genuine APC battery or a battery from a 3rd party vendor?
Regards,
Nicole

Hi Avinash,
Okay, I believe that is the issue you are having. We do not recommend using 3rd party batteries with our UPSs because we don't test our units with them and thus do not know how they will behave. I have seen customers use 3rd party batteries and they work fine, and I have seen them not work at all.
The APC replacement battery part number for this unit is the RBC32. They do sell this battery on Amazon if you are able to purchase from them. If not, you're unit is about 10 years old. Our UPSs have a typical lifespan of 7-10 years, so you may want to look into getting a replacement UPS.
Regards,
Nicole

Hello Avinash and Nicole,
Retired USN data systems technician using APC UPS units in USN and at home for 36 years. First time encountering same situation as yours. I replaced battery with factory APC unit a year ago and relays started activating on frequent basis about 4 months ago between between AC/Battery. I will attempt your procedure of discharging battery to see if problem will rectify. I suspect though, either the unit suffers from inadequate design and or end of life point. I realize discrete components do not last forever for obvious reasons but it is disappointing nevertheless. I have high regard for APC and still prefer over any other brand. We will see about the outcome but as with so many products of this age, I believe the time for upgrade to a newer unit is probably on the near horizon.
