APC ES550 incorrect estimate shutdown time and battery charge amount after replace battery
Hi all,
recently during a power outage I saw that my APC ES550 was giving constant beeps so I supposed the battery was exausted and I bought a new one.
After replacement and recharging the new battery for 12h, I noticed that the Powerchute software was erroneously indicating 3 minutes of available power backup time.
I tried to disconnect the power and let the device run until shutdown, but with a laptop, modem and hub connected it lasted for about 1 hour.
Then I found istructions in the forum on how to reset this estimation, running a load of at least 30% of the maximum load to the APC and let it run until it is shut down.
Using a 250W device, it consumed all the battery charge in about 10-12 minutes (I suppose it's correct).
After another full recharge, the estimation still sits on 10 minutes and the APC starts crazy beeping after only 30 seconds of power outage, even if it lasts for 1 hour with the attached devices.
There is another procedure/software to reset it?
Thanks

Hi @JonPro,
the model is APC ES550, this one for the Italy market (https://www.apc.com/it/it/product/BE550-IT/apc-backups-es-550-va-230-v-italiano/ discontinued).
Thanks
Marco

Just like what BillP said, the firmware of your UPS does not support this feature. Aside from doing a manual runtime calibration wherein you are going to connect at least 25% of the load and let the UPS run on battery until it turns off, I recommend running a self-test on the UPS and doing a complete logic reset.
